Music is a big part of my life. I grew up with my parents albums, a steady diet of Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke, Gabby Pahinui, The Wailers, The Beatles, Jimmy McGriff and so many more. Because of this i have a soft spot for the physicality of vinyl records, and have an ever expanding collection of several thousand albums of various genres, which I pull from for my weekly online radio show, SOUND DIMENSIONS. Where I explore the many dimensions of sound. SOUND DIMENSIONS streams live from the record cave every Tuesday Night, 8pm til Midnight PST, in your browser on SPAZ.org
You can listen to old episodes and other dj mixes on my MIXCLOUD page.
As a selector, I have been deejaying parties since the late 80s (my first ever DJ gig was playing ska for a scooter rally event at SUNY Purchase in 1988). I first delved into producing my own music in 1997, using a Roland DJ70 sampler and a MC-303 groovebox. I helped to form Oakland Based CATFIVE with fellow bay area Musician BALANCEMAN and friends shortly thereafter, releasing “Kataphonics” on Hip Hop Slam records in 2001. After several other CATFIVE releases, the band disbanded in 2005 and my first solo release came shortly thereafter “Omnia Ab Uno”. I continue to produce my own mixes and edits, and I am currently at work on a new Darkat album which should see release in late 2014.
